The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has been fined 400,000 yuan (US$61,920) by Jing’an District Administration for Market Regulation due to misleading claims on a Clinique product, according to Shine.cn.

Clinque’s Fresh Pressed Daily Booster was sold on Tmall and claimed to improve pockmarks and reduce wrinkles within four weeks, while improving the healing power of skin within 12 weeks.

The administration refuted these claims, stating that Clinique was unable to provide proof.

ELC was also penalised for its Origins Plantscription powerful lifting cream healed wounds and removed wrinkles, however, the company could not provide lab reports to support the claims.

According to the administration, ELC misled consumers and violated China’s anti-unfair competition law with the misleading claims.
