Salomon Genesis Men's Trail - Running Shoes review: My Real - World Experience
Hey, all you guys who are into running, especially those of us switching from road running to trail running! I've been testing out the Salomon Genesis trail - running shoes, and here's what I've found.
1. Super Light and Comfortable Fit
These shoes are crazy light. As soon as you put them on, you can feel the difference. And the way they hug your feet is really nice. I got a size 41, and since my feet are about 255 mm long, the front part of the shoe is a bit roomy. It's not tight at all. This is awesome when I'm running downhill. I don't have to worry about my toes getting squished. I can just focus on running fast without any discomfort.
2. Great Sole Response... with a Catch
For shorter runs, like 15 or 16 kilometers, the sole of these shoes is really great. When I want to speed up, it's so easy. There's no feeling of dragging or being weighed down. And so far, I haven't noticed any drop - off in how well they perform. But then, I had this one run. I did 15 kilometers with a 400 - meter climb. After that, the downhill part was on a winding, hard - packed trail with a pretty steep slope. I was going fast, trying to keep up the speed. By the time I got to the hard - packed road at the end, my front foot and toes were so numb from the vibrations. I had to stop. So, while the shoes are great for normal runs, they might not be the best for really tough, long downhills.
3. Solid Grip on Rough Terrain
On those tricky parts of the trail, these shoes really shine. Whether it's a gravel path or a hard - packed road with some grass on it when going downhill, I haven't slipped or twisted my ankle yet. They seem to have a good grip. But I'm still waiting to see how they do in the rain. That'll be the real test of how well they can handle slippery conditions.
4. Who These Shoes Are For
Overall, I think the Salomon Genesis shoes are better for more experienced runners. You need to have some strength in your legs and ankles to really get the most out of these shoes. If you're a beginner or your legs aren't that strong, you might not be able to use these shoes to their full potential. You could even get tired more easily or risk getting hurt. But if you're an experienced runner looking to improve your times on the trail, these shoes are definitely worth checking out.
