The North Face Summit Series FUTUREFLEECE Full-Zip Hoodie - Men's review

It seems like the North Face Summit Series doesn't use that "L + number" layering thing anymore. But I still call it that way out of habit. This time, we've got five pieces of L2 in five different colors, and I was the one hyping them up in the group. Even though some people said the color of the one I have looks like that green the Japanese army used when I posted a pic of it on my WeChat Moments, I really dig this olive color. The real thing looks super high-class.

Compared to the Alpha Direct, which was all the rage last year, the Futurefleece in the L2 doesn't have that crazy good warmth-to-weight ratio. At least that's what it seems like on paper. But in reality, the Futurefleece is still really light. My size S full-zip long-pile L2 actually weighs 210 grams. And the cut is so good that when I put it on, I can barely feel it.

I'm kind of skeptical about the whole "dynamic warmth" thing with the Alpha Direct. I think outdoor clothes should have at least a bit of wind protection. The way the Alpha Direct's fabric is woven means it has no windproofing at all. That idea of staying warm when you're still and cooling off when you're moving only works when there's no wind. As soon as there's even a little breeze, you gotta throw on a windbreaker to stay warm. But the L2 has some windproofing, and that's exactly what lets it actually give you dynamic warmth when you're hiking. When you're walking in a bit of a breeze, it can both keep you warm and let the heat out. My full-zip L2 with diamond fleece is way longer than the hoodless half-zip version. I find it works great for when I'm out walking in temps between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius. If it gets colder, I just put on a windbreaker.

The Alpha Direct is way less durable than the Futurefleece. If the other points I made might be up for debate, this one definitely isn't. The Alpha Direct got rid of the base lining that the regular Alpha has to get a better clo value. Polartec must have put in a lot of work to make that happen. But in real life, especially in places like western Sichuan where there's all kinds of plants, when you're walking through arrow bamboo forests, rhododendron forests, or other thickets, the L2's surface is smooth and kind of tight, so it's less likely to get snagged compared to the Alpha Direct.

I sweat a lot, especially on my head and back. So I really care about how well clothes can let air through and dry fast. If the Alpha Direct goes on sale and I can get it cheap, I'd be happy to grab one. I almost forgot about Teijin's Octa. They say the Futurefleece is a patented weaving thing that's based on Teijin's Octa. If I can get my hands on one, I'll compare it with the others and do a review.

So, to sum it up, the L2 is a really well-cut fleece jacket. It has some windproofing, and its dynamic warmth works great. It has a good balance between warmth and weight, and it's still durable. Like the name suggests, it's a good outer layer to wear over a base layer. Right now, the women's version is a steal, between 300 and 600 yuan, and the men's is between 400 and 700. I paid 700 for mine, and I still think it was worth it.

The North Face Summit Series FUTUREFLEECE Hoodie Deals: Find Sales, Coupons, and Restock Alerts

Looking to snag a great deal on The North Face Summit Series FUTUREFLEECE Full-Zip Hoodie for men? You've come to the right place! This coveted hoodie, known for its incredible warmth-to-weight ratio and exceptional breathability thanks to its unique FUTUREFLEECE construction, is a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts. But its premium quality often comes with a premium price tag. That's why finding North Face FUTUREFLEECE hoodie deals is essential.

Several factors can affect the price of this popular item. Keep an eye out for seasonal sales, particularly during end-of-season clearances or holiday promotions. Major retailers like REI, Backcountry, and The North Face's official website often offer significant discounts on North Face hoodies, including the Summit Series FUTUREFLEECE. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are prime opportunities to find the lowest prices of the year. Don't forget to check smaller, independent outdoor gear retailers as they sometimes offer surprising promo codes for The North Face products.

To maximize your chances of securing a bargain, actively search for North Face Summit Series sale events. Setting up price alerts using tools like Google Shopping, Honey, or CamelCamelCamel can notify you immediately when the FUTUREFLEECE hoodie price drops. Also, consider signing up for email newsletters from your favorite outdoor retailers. These newsletters often contain exclusive coupons for North Face gear that aren't advertised elsewhere.

Size and color availability can also impact pricing. Less popular sizes or colors are often heavily discounted to clear inventory. So, if you're flexible on your preferences, you might be able to find a substantial North Face hoodie discount. Conversely, if a particular size or color is highly sought after, it might be difficult to find it on sale.

Finally, if you can't find the North Face FUTUREFLEECE hoodie in stock, consider setting up restock alerts. Popular items like this often sell out quickly, but retailers will typically replenish their inventory. Being among the first to know when a North Face restock occurs will give you a competitive edge in securing the hoodie at its original price or, potentially, even on sale during a limited-time promotion.
