Founder Tiffany Masterson is thrilled to share her ingredient-elimination philosophy with the Ulta Beauty guests, a majority of whom already know the brand and can now find it at their preferred beauty destination. Drunk Elephant launched in the United States in 2013 with six products. Today, the line has achieved cult status and fans can “get Drunk head to toe” with a full range of products for face, hair, and body.

“Drunk Elephant is an incredible brand focused on the health of the skin from head to toe, and we know our guests will be thrilled to explore the brand offerings, embrace its philosophy, and have fun along the way!”

“I’m so excited to be launching in Ulta Beauty,” says Masterson. “It’s a dream come true to share our philosophy and products with their community! I can’t wait to hear what they have to say.”

Drunk Elephant

There’s perhaps no greater success story in the skincare world than that of Drunk Elephant. Founder and chief creative officer Tiffany Masterson first began the journey when she was looking for an extra way to make money during the recession. She quickly realized just how products can impact your skin, and, after several years spent formulating and researching, Drunk Elephant was born.

It quickly became one of the fastest-growing masstige beauty brands out there, not to mention one owned by a female and one focused on clean formulations. The products are all free of what the brand deems ‘the suspicious six:’ silicones, essential oils, chemical sunscreens, SLS, alcohols, and fragrances/dyes, ingredients that can cause skin issues for many people, notes New York City dermatologist Dr. Debra Jaliman, who likes the brand. Still, they take a slightly different approach, calling it ‘clean clinical’ skincare and using both natural and synthetic ingredients, with a focus on efficacy and what actually benefits your skin. Beauty editors and consumers alike quickly became obsessed, and the beauty industry took note. It’s a success story that largely hinges upon one thing: The products are truly, genuinely, really good.

At the heart of the Drunk Elephant philosophy is the belief that what is left out of the products is just as important as what is put in. So, you’ll never find the Suspicious 6™ (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, SLS) in any Drunk Elephant product. Removing these six ubiquitous ingredients allows the skin to return to its healthiest, most balanced state. All Drunk Elephant products are formulated at optimal pH levels, blend together easily, and are highly absorbable, so they can be used to create customized skincare “smoothies.”

"We are delighted to welcome Drunk Elephant to the Ulta Beauty family," says Monica Arnaudo, chief merchandising officer of Ulta Beauty. The ultra-lightweight Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 pretty much eliminates the guesswork. It's designed for — you guessed it — everyday wear. The creamy, silicone-free formula is ideal for even the most sensitive skin types and contains 20 percent zinc oxide (to protect the skin from harmful UV rays), as well as antioxidant-rich algae, sunflower sprout extracts, and raspberry seed oil.
